CLAIRE LEWIS-LIM
Educator | Community Musician
DipRCM (Performance), DipRCM (Teaching), MA Community Music (Distinction)
Trained as a violinist at the Royal College of Music under Itzhak Rashkovsky, Claire went on to build a multifaceted career encompassing performance, education, and community music.
For over three decades, Claire has maintained a thriving private teaching practice, guiding students of all ages through graded music exams with consistently excellent results. However, her work extends beyond the traditional teaching studio. She founded and ran Semiquavers, a parent-and-toddler music programme, for ten years, and more recently completed a Master’s degree in Community Music at the University of York, where her research explored intergenerational music-making between toddlers and their parent, and elderly care home residents.
Claire is passionate about the power of music to promote wellbeing and create meaningful connections. Her community work has included therapeutic music sessions for children with autism and music-making with vulnerable women. Since 2020, she has also been a member of Aeterna, a collective of professional musicians creating spontaneous new music through improvisation.
At Chamberfest 2026, Claire will share her journey with participants curious to explore the many different paths a career in music can take beyond the concert stage.
